Role Purpose:

Ensuring that the good genetics are passed through by Selecting the best males. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in Animal Production will be an added advantage
  • Valid Code EB drivers’ license will be advantageous

Required Experience:

  • 1-2 years relevant poultry experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ensuring a healthy environment, application and strict adherence of Company’s bio-security 
  • Work without supervision
  • Willing to work long and flexible hours

Key Responsibilities:

Males selection

▪ Ensure that the best genetics progeny are passed through the supply chain.

▪ De-beaking of Males after selection.

▪ Grading of females at 4, 8 and 16 weeks.

Vaccination

Ensure that birds are properly vaccinated according to the vaccination schedule and check if administered correctly.

▪ Ensure vaccination equipment are maintained and calibrated according to SOP’s.

▪ Post vaccination check and ensure that vaccination was administered properly.

▪ Assist the Vaccination Forman on weekend in checking the vaccine Fridge and record temperature.

▪ Ensure that the correct vaccine in the correct quantities are ordered in ample time.

▪ Ensure the vaccine are properly stored.

Biosecurity and Farm sanitation

▪ Maintaining an effective biosecurity programme by practicing good hygiene, vaccination and disease prevention.

▪ Make sure that employees adhere to Bio-security procedures.

▪ Disinfecting equipment going from one house to the other.

Record Keeping

▪ Keep the documentation files updated for ISSO Audits (Grading and Vaccination)

▪ Keep selection records (selection recap) updated at all times

Staff management

▪ Keep and update daily registers, MDWT’s, disciplinary records, training records; review meetings.

▪ Create the next generation of GP Selectors through training.

House Keeping

▪ Safely deposition of Medical waste.

▪ Make sure vaccination equipment are sanitized before and after every vaccination.

SHEQ

Make sure that vaccination equipment is clean and sanitized to prevent re-contamination.
