Purpose of the Role:

  • We are looking to fill a role that involves performing chemical analyzes using HPLC-MS, among other responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducting routine and non-routine HPLC-MS/MS analyzes on various samples.
  • Preparing samples for analysis, including dilutions and extractions.
  • Operating and maintaining HPLC-MS instruments, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Analyzing data and interpreting results.
  • Accurately documenting analytical results in electronic databases, and reviewing and validating data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Preparing reports and summaries of analytical findings, and working closely with the Laboratory Manager to develop and maintain a high-performance testing facility.
  • Assisting in the development and optimization of HPLC-MS analytical methods, and participating in the validation of analytical methods to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and participating in quality control activities, instrument calibration and maintenance.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and participating in training and development activities.
  • Collaborating with other laboratory personnel and cross-functional teams, and possibly assisting in troubleshooting analytical issues and identifying areas for improvement.
  • The candidate will also lead the development of validated procedures to provide accurate, timely, and reliable test results.
  • They will validate processes, and be competent to participate in validation studies on current and new test methodologies.
  • Additionally, they will understand the legal documents that govern the process of validations and lead the process of root cause analysis using techniques like the 5 Why and Fish Bone Techniques to identify root causes of non-conforming test results.
  • In this role, the candidate will plan, organize, and control the technical activities of the department, keep abreast of current technical regulations, and make necessary adjustments to testing procedures.
  • They will take an innovative approach to expand the testing scope and matrix, offering more diverse services to internal and external customers.
  • They will ensure that all applied procedures are effectively implemented and that safety controls are understood and followed.
  • The candidate will monitor the performance of the testing departments, identify risks and weaknesses, implement corrective and preventive actions, evaluate verification activities, and present trend analysis for collaborative decision making.
  • They will ensure all departmental equipment is maintained in a safe condition, oversee safe working conditions, and manage site top risks related to chemicals, and testing programs.
  • They will also handle budget and stock management, ensuring only approved consumables are used and confirming compliance.

Required Qualification & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have as a minimum, a Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical/Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory environment and a valid driver's license are required.
  • It's important that they have hands-on experience with HPLC-MS analysis, including method development, optimization,
    and validation.
  • Proficiency in HPLC techniques and knowledge of HPLC instrumentation and software are essential.
  • Experience with sample preparation techniques and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also required. Additionally, they should be computer literate, capable of logical and analytical thinking, and adept at decision-making.
  • This role requires attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are also crucial.
