Maintenance Team Leader  Pretoria

Role Purpose:

Manage individual & team/shift performance to ensure company standards are adhered to as relating to maintenance and team performance, quality, time and safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent literacy and numeric level
  • Trade or similar technical qualification
  • Basic Computer Literacy
  • Hazardous chemicals handling
  • Forklift (Level 3)
  • Working on heights with fall protection
  • Fire fighting (Level 1)
  • Spill kit Training

Required Experience: 

  • Previous experience in a maintenance environment.
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience leading a team.

Required Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge in overall maintenance processes and regulations.
  • Technically informed and ability to carry out and manage technical tasks.
  • Quickly gain knowledge of all products and quantity’s
  • Health and Safety

  • Computer Literacy

Role Responsibilities:

Coordinate and Manage maintenance activity.

  • Manage morning meetings
  • Plan work per artisan and provide spares and additional manpower where necessary.
  • Plan and manage standby roster.
  • Manage and keep stores including stock take supported by Buyer.
  • Arrange for receiving of stock through Production Admin Clerk.
  • Keep workshop, stores and surrounding area on 5S standard.
  • Arrange and manage forklifts’ cleaning, maintenance and services.
  • Manage overtime and allowances where applicable.
  • Keep absenteeism and attendance records.
  • Issue and manage special tools and consumables.
  • Walk factory, liaise with production supervisors and shift technicians and report.
  • Plan and arrange for tasks for continual Mill improvements.
  • Develop basic preventive maintenance program on white board system.

Maintenance and House Keeping

  • Conduct housekeeping in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Always maintain and improve on housekeeping standards in and around your working area.
  • Ensure that the maintenance area and storage locations are orderly.
  • Drive all machine performance targets as set out by company.
  • Report any defects to the Line Manager

Safety and Security

  • Ensure that the work area is always clean and hygienic according to Feed, Health, and Safety standards.

Effective Teamwork and Self-Management

  • Take ownership and accountability for own tasks and activities in shift.
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
  • Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met, the potential risks thereof and provide possible resolution.
  • Manage colleagues’ expectations and communicate appropriately.
  • Demonstrate willingness to help others and “go the extra mile” to meet team targets and objectives.
