MAIN DUTIES
• Organizes the day-to-day activities of an accounting section and allocates duties according to accounting deadlines and schedules, procedures and priorities.
• Monitoring and checking performance to ensure adherence to accounting standards, systems and procedures.
• Liaises with individual departments to develop budgets.
• Prepares consolidated draft budgets and forecasts for BQA and submit to the Manager, Finance for review.
• Ensures proper maintenance of fixed assets register.
• Review and advice on useful live, depreciation policies and other accounting procedures related to assets.
• Liaises with administration on assets identification and movements.
• Liaises with administration on disposal of obsolete assets.
• Prepares monthly management accounts, financial projections, statements and reports to facilitate decision-making.
• Analyzes expenditure against budget and prepares reports on variances from budget for Management and alert senior management on significant variances.
• Prepares reports with analytical information and recommendations on the financial status of BQA.
• Liaises with and responds to queries from Internal and External Auditors.
• Prepares data for the analysis of business operations, trends, costs and revenue, to project future revenue and expenses.
• Monitor payroll costs and prepare analyzes of costs as necessary.
• Provides management with reports that give both strategic and operational advice to allow them to make informed business decisions.
• Works with managers from the other divisions and provides advice on the financial resources based on the financial data.
Required Competencies:

• Knowledge of financial and accounting standards, principles, procedures rules and regulations
• Computer literate. Experience with accounting systems and applications in the specific area.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
• At least a Degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized institution or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to BQA.
• Professional qualification e.g. ACCA or CIMA shall be an added advantage.
• Registration with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants is required.
• Membership of an additional professional accounting body will be an added advantage.
Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years accounting experience in an environment with sound background in management accounting.
• Experience working with accounting systems/applications and excel spreadsheet is mandatory.
• Experience in a commercial/parastatal organization environment would be an added advantage.
