Grounds and Washing Supervisor  Carolina

Role Purpose:
To assist the foreman providing supervision to relevant staff and participate in managing the maintenance, repair, and service of farms and utilities ensuring that they are constantly in good operating order. 

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification 
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Valid Code EB drivers’ license 

• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar environment preferably. 
• Physically fit with no allergies to bird feathers and dust

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the team washing with high pressure pumps (Hawk 200Bar), HP pipes and water gun 
  • Supervise the team washing of poultry houses and poultry equipment, nest boxes, troughs, etc 
  • Oversee the application of disinfectants and wash chemicals in poultry houses, using- and enforcing PPE 
  • Oversee the disinfecting of trucks and vehicles entering the farm area 
  • Ensure rodent control over all poultry houses and hatchery 
  • Supervisory of grounds maintenance, brush cutters, Tractor with slasher, ride-on lawn mower, garden equipment 
  • Supervisory of roads and fence maintenance, water damage, culvert cleaning, veld path cutting and preparation. 
  • Fire Breaks, assist with chemical applying, slashing and do firefighting. 
  • Assisting Fire Teams with firefighting. Having a Fire Marshal Certificate is an advantage 
  • Vehicle and Equipment Management and control; tractors, slasher, lawn mower, brush cutters, HP pumps and accessories, Fogging machine, trailers. 
  • Do survey hygiene in poultry houses.
  • Working Supervisor, either ground and washing, physically assist and train team
  • Biosecurity enforcement according to company requirements 

Safety and Security: 

  • Ensures engineering staff follow safety rules and regulations as per organization's safety plan. 
  • Ensure that security access points to the premises and BMS system are in good working condition. 
  • Reporting theft and dangers on the premises. 
  • Ensures safety equipment is in good working order. 
  • Ensure that all staff is working according to safety regulations and ensure the enforcement of food safety requirements. 
  • Stores machinery and equipment in accordance with operating procedures during the execution of their daily tasks. 

Management of Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ):

  • Guides team to ensure that all legislative standards are achieved and in time and action is taken where required to ensure that there are no areas of noncompliance). 
  • Responsible for health and safety with regards to all equipment to ensure a safe environment to operate and work on for all staff. 
  • Follows up on requirements for compliance ensuring that it is continuously maintained and adhered to. 
  • Measure and manage sustainability practices within area of responsibility. 
  • Maintain and implement Food safety standards
