Purpose:
To provide support to all Chicken Processing and Agric staff and management to deliver sustainable improvement in product quality, cleaning, technical training and processing output whilst reducing the unit cost of production. To implement and sustain process improvement, continuous Improvements and manufacturing systems best practices.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Diploma or 3-year degree and/or Production/Food Technology Qualification
  • 5 years’ relevant experience in chicken or similar agribusiness industry
  • Production management experience in chicken or similar agribusiness
  • Sound knowledge of Food safety systems
  • Adequate and relevant training experience

Key Responsibilities:
Support Plant Management to improve overall quality of products:

  • Regular plant visits to access product quality on the lines
  • Develop and maintain a Product Quality KPI system to highlight quality issues
  • Conduct competitor’s product comparison investigation
  • Lead projects at plant level to improve overall quality issues that is highlighted through the KPI system
  • Develop training programs for staff to improve awareness and skills of product quality

Support Plant Management to improve cleaning processes in the plant

  • Regular audits of cleaning processes in the plant to be conducted
  • Cleaning process improvement to be identified and implemented
  • Cost of cleaning to be analyzed and continuous improvement project implemented to reduce overall cleaning cost
  • Contract management to manage service providers

Support Plant management to improve line set-ups and reduce overall labour cost

  • Capability studies to be done on processing lines to improve efficiencies on the lines
  • Line labour compliment audits to be done to identify labour efficiency improvements
  • Process flow studies of overall plant layout to be done and recommendation to be implemented
  • Identify and implement short interval controls/information systems to support line efficiencies improvements

Develop Technical training modules to improve overall skill levels in plant regarding chicken processing

  • Support R&D from operational level to develop new products, align layouts, new technology, ensure successful product start-ups and post evaluations of product launches
  • Manage continuous improvement programmed for Processing through scorecard system.
  • Effective implement β€œad hoc” projects by employing sound project management Practices
  • Analyze customer and consumer complaints, provide sustainable solutions to reduce overall customer complaints
