The Financial Reporting Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting within Digicall. The role encompasses overseeing day-to-day financial reporting operations, contributing to strategic decision-making, and to ensure that financial practices are controlled in line with statutory and professional prescriptions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum:
    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4
    • Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences (CTA)
 
EXPERIENCE
  • SAICA (AGA) or SAIPA articles completed. 
  • 5 to 8 years relevant post articles experience in financial reporting, with a strong background in IFRS.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role would be advantageous.
  • Experience in Pastel Evolution, CaseWare & SARS e-filling will be highly advantageous.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Financial Management:
  • Draft financial statements in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations monthly and address any gaps/concerns accordingly.
  • Assist with the development of financial forecasts and annual budget processes.
Operational:
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting including full group consolidation under IFRS.
  • Review accounting policies proactively and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist the Accountants with any queries/issues regarding the drafting of annual financial statements.
  • Delegate accounting tasks and related duties to subordinates.
  • Provide guidance to subordinates on accounting treatments for complex transactions.
  • Work towards standardisation of relevant aspects, including reports and data analysis.
  • Identify areas of improvement in the business to streamline and simplify financial processes. 
  • Present findings to senior management, offering insights into financial performance and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop and lead monthly control packs across all Group companies to provide assurance on financial reporting, including Income Statements, Balance Sheet Statements and Cash Flow Statements.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of internal controls and suggest recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Streamline and optimise financial reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify areas of development in the Digicall Assist Team to promote team growth.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with reporting deadlines and the compilation of management accounts, as and when required.
  • Present financial reports to Finance Manager/Chief Financial Officer.
  • Revise and conduct the forex translations for all international entities within the Group.
  • Perform the full accounting function of the head-office entity, budgets, Income Tax, Provisional Tax, and VAT (monthly).
  • Collaborate with senior management to analyse financial results, identify trends, and provide insights that contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of financial data to ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with external audit teams to resolve any identified issues and implement controls or remedial actions as required.
  • Review and provide necessary documentation during the audit process.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc tasks delegated by the Finance Manager/Chief Financial Officer.

HR Management:

  • Lead and coach subordinates to foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide guidance on technical accounting matters and ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Assist with the development and training of direct reports.
  • Initiate disciplinary action for direct subordinates who are non-compliant with company objectives, policies, and procedures.
